About John
John Wallace is the executive chairman of Caldwell, where he continues to help the organization deliver on its mission to connect our clients with transformational talent. He also mentors and coaches the leadership team, advising on key strategic initiatives.
Prior to becoming executive chairman in September 2024, John was the CEO of Caldwell. During his 16-year tenure, Caldwell grew from 15 partners and $16 million in revenue to 55 partners and $98 million revenue.
John effected a strategic and exceptionally successful growth plan for Caldwell that included launching operations in the United States, Europe and Asia Pacific, and integrating outcome-oriented service with innovative technology to deliver a wider range of talent acquisition solutions to clients. He expanded the company’s spectrum of services to include candidate research and sourcing through to full recruitment at the professional level, as well as a suite of talent strategy and assessment tools through the acquisition of IQTalent Partners and Applied Behavioral Academy.
Experience
Prior to joining Caldwell Partners, John was president and chief executive officer of Highland Partners, the executive search division of Hudson Highland Group, the world’s largest combined executive search, specialty staffing, and related consulting services firm at the time.
Before entering the executive search industry in 1996, he held senior marketing and management positions in the telecommunications industry.
Education
John holds an Honours BSc from the University of Waterloo.

In addition to serving on Caldwell’s board of directors since 2008, John is currently a member of the Selection Board of “A Seat at the Table,” an initiative, under the auspices of the Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled Persons, advocating for greater board representation of physically disabled Canadians.
